Liège University thanks colleague Loïc Delmarcelle.
At the start of the new academic year at Liege University, a combination of extreme heat, crowds of people, and the wearing face masks led to no fewer than five students becoming unwell in under two hours. Two people were even taken to hospital by ambulance. Our fellow security guard Loïc Delmarcelle was responsible for security on that day and acted in an extremely professional manner by assisting the victims first of all, but also by helping bystanders in the proper way. His cool-headed approach impressed the university so much that they thanked him personally.
About Loïc
Loïc Delmarcelle has been a security guard with SERIS Security since April 2016 and, since March 2018, has been part of the mobile security unit (MSU) in Liege. When various people became unwell, one of them with cardiovascular health problems, Loïc managed to keep that person alive until the ambulance services arrived. His calmness, professionalism, and decisiveness impressed the university staff, who thanked him personally for this.
Emotional year
The past year has been a very emotional one for him and his family. As a young father (his daughter was born in March), he was confronted by the terrible floods which affected the Vesder valley during the catastrophic month of July. The water devastated not only his neighbourhood, but also his own house completely. Then, too, he acted calmly in a crisis by helping his elderly neighbours and saving them from a tragic fate. To this day, he still combines his work with SERIS Security with the reconstruction of his damaged house.
White knight
People such as Loïc, who are ready to help people in need whatever the situation, are white knights. Despite the difficulties in his private life, he performed his professional duties with distinction. Well done!
