‘A good technician must be eager to learn, enthusiastic, and motivated!’
There will always be enough work for motivated specialists, certainly for security technicians. SERIS Technology is constantly looking for motivated specialists.
We spoke with JonathanSymens, service technician in after-sales at SERIS Technology.

Where do you get your enthusiasm for this job?
‘Security technology never stands still. It’s advancing and becoming more professional all the time to help the sector effectively tackle and prevent today’s risks and certainly those of tomorrow. There’s no routine in our sector. It’s always about helping people with needs and offering customised solutions. I couldn’t see myself doing the same job for long; this job means constant variety and highly exciting tasks,’ says Jonathan Symens.
How do you keep constantly up-to-date in this ever changing sector?
‘The major things are enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. During the basic training, you obviously learn about the various facets of what a good technician has to know, but, after that, you have specialist training. At SERIS Technology we have the big privilege that considerable investment goes into internal and external training. This is essential to extend your areas of specialisation. And, obviously, you can’t forget your experienced colleagues. You can be sure there isn’t a school anywhere to give you the knowledge which you pick up every day from your colleagues,’ Symens continues.
