SERIS is an organisation that finds concepts like sustainability and environmental awareness very important.
Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and signing the UN Global Compact initiative illustrate this.
In addition, SERIS Technology has also explicitly committed to the standard that integrates environmental aspects into its quality system, the ISO 14001 standard in particular. After all, SERIS Technology has a particular impact on the environment, due to the nature of its activities as integrator of electronic security solutions. SERIS Technology buys components of its security systems from suppliers across the world, has these delivered to its warehouses and transports these to its customers for installation and maintenance on the spot. At the end of their lifespan, many of these components are often taken back to the central warehouses to be processed as waste from there. During the whole lifecycle of these goods and activities, SERIS Technology tries to reduce the impact on the environment. |

In the year 2018, among others, the following actions were taken in this regard:
- Further driven recycling because of which we now treat additional plastics (hard plastics), Styrofoam and glass as separate waste streams;
- Reducing the use of paper through further digitalisation via the use of tablets and digital work orders instead of paper work orders;
- Choosing eco-friendlier vehicles and equipping these with lighter materials because of which we have noticed a decreasing trend in average diesel use and CO2 emission;
- Optimising the internal ICT infrastructure, resulting in saving energy.
In view of the growth of SERIS Technology we are noticing an increasing impact on the environment in the area of waste streams and fleet. This is why these are the main points of interest for the year 2019. These are our objectives:
- The further logical development of our own recycling point, which makes it easier for our staff to recycle. In particular, the waste stream of batteries will be focused on so these are managed 75%;
- The further reduction by 2% of diesel use and CO2 emission of our fleet due to a driven purchasing policy, lighter inside equipment and monitoring the tyre pressure;
- The 100% abolition of paper customer files through the transition to a completely new software platform;
- Screening suppliers more strictly via an intake procedure and imposing the principles of the SERIS purchasing charter, where efforts in the area of environment (such as limiting packaging and transport costs) are a criterion.
Finally, SERIS Technology is a sum of many parts: all our members of staff are informed about an environmental topic and about how they can contribute, at least four times a year. This philosophy will be kept on, also in the coming years.
